Stitch

A mobile sales application.

I worked remotely from Vancouver with the Stitch team in San Francisco, helping shape the UI and visual language of their mobile sales app. I also contributed to the product discussions when I saw opportunities to improve the experience.

Stitch was later acquired by SugarCRM.

A conversation could move between text messages, email and calls without losing its context.

Instead of thinking about channels, the interface was organized around people and conversations. Color helped distinguish different types of communication at a glance.

Components and specs

The interface was built from a small set of reusable patterns for conversations, contacts, actions and message states. Documenting them helped keep the product consistent as new scenarios were added.

Built around the relationship

The product was ultimately less about managing messages and more about helping salespeople maintain relationships.

That shaped the way I approached the interface: keep the complexity in the system, while making the experience feel simple and natural for the person using it.
